-- home | prices | availability | contact us | location ready to relax in fife's east neuk? -- the house at 23 crail road 23 crail road is a luxury self catering holiday home located in the centre of the traditional fishing village of anstruther in the heart of fife's east neuk. this tastefully equipped home forms part of a quiet courtyard development built within a conservation area on the site of a former fisherman's yard. much of the character of the original building has been retained including the external stone walls. the house offers luxurious and well equipped holiday accommodation for 4 to 6 people with 2 bedrooms (both have ensuite bathrooms), comfortable living/dining room with tv/dvd, and modern kitchen. situated on a beautiful stretch of coastline and only a 15 minute drive from st andrews, it is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and is an ideal base for a variety of holidays - golf, beach walking or simply relaxing. -- inside the house (click for more ...) completed in 2008, the internal decor and furnishings are of a very high standard. the living/dining room is located on the first floor as is the newly fitted kitchen, complete with new appliances - hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer. on the ground floor is a spacious twin bedded room which also has two pull-out beds if needed. the double bedroom is on the second floor with wonderful views of the historic church. both bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and there is an additional toilet situated on the ground floor. should additional sleeping accommodation be required, there is a top quality futon. please note the maximum party size is 6 people. wireless broadband is provided free of charge, and guests also have use of a phone. there is a flatscreen digital tv and dvd in the living area. we also provide a supply of books, children's games, and a few dvds for use during your stay. a set of outdoor furniture is provided to enable you to make the most of the sheltered courtyard area. linen and towels are provided. a dedicated parking space for one car is provided in the courtyard. from the top floor windows you can get a wonderful view across the forth estuary. the comfortable first floor living area has lounge seating for 5 people and a flat screen digital television. -- the bright and sunny kitchen on the first floor has been newly fitted with hob, oven, fridge, microwave and washer/dryer. the twin bedded room also has an en suite bathroom around the area (click for more ...) in anstruther itself, why not: stroll along the picturesque seafront and around the harbour. visit the scottish fisheries museum. take a boat out to the isle of may for fantastic views and the chance to see a variety of wildlife. try some fresh fish and chips from the many seafront restaurants including 'britain's best chip shop 2009'. not to be missed... exploring the harbours and seafronts of the picturesque east neuk fishing villages of crail, pittenweem and st monans. discovering the historic university town of st andrews, famous the world over for being the home of golf. you can always find something to do here, from walking along the west sands or exploring the historic town, to visiting the its many shops and restaurants, or climbing to the top of the tower at the cathedral for a stunning view of the area. flying a kite or building a sandcastle on the kingsbarns beach. a stunning (and quiet) blue flag beach. horse-riding or cycling in tentsmuir forest - a spectacular nature reserve where the forest goes right down to the beach. watching cricket on elie beach on a sunny summer sunday. the seafront at anstruther near the harbour. the beautiful village of crail from the beach. the west sands at st andrews at sunset. just a few minutes away, the seafront at st. monans. creels beside the live lobster shop at crail harbour. cricket on elie beach on a summer day. for golfers... if you enjoy golf then you have come to the right part of the world. the most famous is surely the st andrews old course. however, there are many other courses to suit all abilities and budgets. local courses include anstruther golf club, kingsbarns golf links, balcomie links at crail, elie golf club and the seven st andrews links courses. we can provide more information on request. royal and ancient clubhouse: st. andrews. for walkers... the whole east neuk coastline is covered by the beautiful fife coastal path. from anstruther you can walk west as far as lundin links or east/north to st andrews and beyond. buses run regularly along the coast so you can either take the bus back to anstruther or bus out and walk back. for families... beaches - try elie, kingsbarns, st andrews west sands, tentsmuir, anstruther. st andrews aquarium. elie watersports (seasonal) - located by the harbour and offering sailing courses, kayak hire etc. craigtoun park, st andrews - boating pond, putting, crazy golf, train rides and playground. east sands leisure centre in st andrews (good swimming pool with flume). elie sports club - play tennis, putting, driving range, cafe. kellie castle. the secret bunker, nr crail. st andrews botanical gardens. windsurfing at elie a beach at the west end of anstruther the guestbook (click for more ...) the property had all the facilities we required for a brilliant holiday. the location in anstruther was perfect for the local shops, restaurants and harbour. a first class rental accommodation. we would certainly use it again. october 2015 arriving at 23 crail rd, both my partner and her teenage daughter were bowled over by the property, it had so many aspects that were just right for us, both in size and facilities that we all just loved staying there. as we had relatives and friends to see, with only four days to do it all, we didn't have much time for sightseeing. we hosted a new years day dinner for my mother, brother and the three of us. there was plenty of room, cutlery, crockery and cooking facilities to make this fairly simple and very effective. as we often use holiday homes in both the uk and europe, it was very gratifying to see that everything had been carefully thought of, and provided, meaning no need to dash to the shops for anything other than our food. top marks all round for this. january 2014 really enjoyed our second stay and would highly recommend this townhouse for families and couples alike. the house is in a great location and we rarely used the car unless going out of the village. lots of great places to eat and drink as well as the lovely coastal paths to explore the neighbouring villages. the house is home from home with every comfort taken care of. january 2013 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely house in anstruther. great location and we were blessed with beautiful weather. we will certainly return. august 2012 we have had a lovely week in a fantastic house. thank you so much for letting us stay, it's been fab. july 2012 wonderful house in a terrific location! loved the fife coastal path and fortunate to enjoy some beautiful spring weather. this was our second visit and already we are planning to return. m. leck, april 2011 lovely house, ideal base for the area. fife coastal walks are fantastic. we went to elie and had a great lunch at the ship inn. d. cresswell, april 2011 anstruther is lovely. this place is great for everyone, we have been climbing, biking and kayaking at east neuk activity centre. maria, greig and ben, july 2010 the house is lovely, perfect for a family beach holiday. our top 3 things to do: -
